WHY WOULD I WANT MY GRIPS TO MOVE?
For the same reasons you want your front fork and rear shock to move. The same reason you run less air pressure in your tires when you can. To put it bluntly, it improves your ride and so do our grips. RevGrips do move, but it's a very subtle and controlled movement with the natural motion of your hands (that already move around on traditional grips). Think it’s a gimmick? Don’t believe us? Still skeptical? We offer a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. There’s no reason NOT to give us a shot.
HOW DIFFERENT DO THEY FEEL COMPARED TO REGULAR GRIPS?
At first, in the parking lot, you will probably notice the movement of the grip. Its new and different technology, you should notice it. Once you hit the trail, RevGrips will feel much like a traditional grip although our design is really comfortable too. What you will notice is that at the end of the ride, your hands won't hurt. You're also likely to notice your upper body isn't as beat up as usual and your hands didn't fall asleep and go numb.
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RACE AND PRO SERIES?
The Pro Series has lightened clamps with color options, grips with color choice, and hex wrenches. It also comes with the adjustable tuning kit so the feel can be adjusted from ultra firm to soft very easily.
The Race Series has Standard Clamps that haven't been lightened and there aren't any hex wrenches or extra parts. The Race Series Shock Absorbing Insert has a Medium-Soft feel without the use of tuning washers (which are available separately). Basically, the Race Series is a Bare Bones version of our Shock Absorbing Grip System at a more affordable price.
All parts are upgrade-able and interchangeable between Race and Pro Series so you can add colored grips, lightened clamps, or adjustable feel at any time.
WHY SHOCK ABSORBING GRIPS?
Revolution Suspension Grips were created with one goal in mind: to help solve the problem of tired, battered, and beaten hands when riding anything with a handlebar. Whether you are trail riding, or barreling down your favorite down-hill line, most of us suffer from hand fatigue, numbing, and arm pump. There are many products on the market designed to “dampen vibration” and most of us utilize at least one of them. As bicycle enthusiasts that merely wanted to extend our rides, we tried pretty much every product on the market, but nothing solved the problem and adequately improved our ride quality. It seems the most crucial component is the grip, and certain grips definitely work better than others; but none significantly dampen the vibration felt directly through our handlebars and into our upper body. There are many different grip shapes and sizes designed in an effort to achieve that perfect, ergonomic fit with hopes of minimizing arm pump and hand fatigue. Unfortunately, every grip has the same problem: they are directly mounted to your handlebar and most with locking rings serving the sole purpose of eliminating ANY movement. Until now, there has never been a shock absorber for your most significant and direct point of contact with your bike: your hands.
We set out to create the ultimate handlebar grip. Our goal was to design an extremely comfortable, shock-absorbing, fatigue reducing, dynamic grip. It had to be easily adjustable with replaceable parts, and it absolutely had to make a noticeable difference. It also needed to be as easy to install as traditional grips and be of the same size as the popular grips on the market. It had to be a zero-compromise solution that looked great and was light weight. Our original goal was to solve a problem, but what we hadn’t planned on was the increased speed and confidence these grips give you. Across the board, our riders feel significantly less hand fatigue and arm pump while gaining control and speed.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
Every grip on the market is designed to mount directly to your handlebar. They have locking rings serving the sole purpose of locking your grip to your handlebar and NOT allowing the grip to move. We also have locking rings that fasten to your handlebar, but our grips were designed to ALLOW movement. Our grip has specific, controlled, and adjustable shock absorbing characteristics within the confines of the locking ring. The clamps (locking rings) are mounted to your handlebar, and your grip is able to "float" inside shock absorbing inserts within that clamp. This allows the grip to move independent of handlebar chatter significantly reducing shock and vibration in your hands and upper body. Also see our page "How They Work"
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A SHOCK ABSORBING GRIP?
A lot of grips have shock absorbing characteristics. The difference is that they are direct-mounted to the handlebar, and every single shock and vibration is translated directly into your hands. Because our grip system does not work that way and your hands are isolated away from this shock and vibration, the benefits are many. First of all, your hands WILL feel better. You will have less hand and arm fatigue, less arm pump, and even less lower back pain. You will maintain better focus because of the reduced vibration transferred into your upper body. You will be able to ride harder, longer, faster, and more often without paying such a high price with numb, battered, and blistered hands.
HOW DO I ADJUST THEM?
The grips are adjusted with "Tuning Washers" which are include in the Pro Series and optional on the Race Series. The Pro Series kit includes 8 washers of 2 different thicknesses (installed 1 on each side of the grip). The washers space the Grip Assembly away from the "Shock Absorbing Inserts" and allow for more or less movement. Thicker washers = more movement, zero washers = minimal movement. Generally, more movement equals better shock absorption. If you are skeptical about "Grip Movement" skip the washers at first. You will still have tangible benefits but the grip will be very stiff. It won't feel much different than a traditional grip; but since your grip is not physically contacting the handlebar, you will still benefit and you can loosen it up when you feel comfortable.
WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?
We currently offer our grip in THREE different diameters: small is 31mm, medium is 32.5mm, and large is 34mm. Our small diameter is similar to most of the popular brands on the market. The length of both Grip Assemblies are 130mm which is, for the most part, industry standard. You should be able to remove and replace just about any other grip with Revolution Suspension Grips without changing anything on your handlebar.
WILL THESE FIT ON MY BIKE?
Yes. Our Grip System is very easy to install on just about any bike. Whether you are riding cross country, all-mountain, enduro, down-hill, or bmx, you can utilize our grips. Almost every bicycle has 7/8" outside diameter handlebars and our suspension grips will bolt right on.
WHY ARE REVGRIPS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN TRADITIONAL GRIPS?
You are looking at a shock absorber for your hands, not a simple hand grip. This is proprietary, patented technology and it results in a much better ride . Revolution Suspension Grips are adjustable, light weight (actual weights listed below), long lasting with replaceable parts, and look awesome. Quality pedals, seats, shoes, stems, bars, etc. cost well over $100, and we all consider that money well spent. Finish off your 3rd and arguably most important point of contact with our Shock Absorbing Grips, and it will make a tangible improvement in your riding experience.
WHAT'S THIS ABOUT A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE?
Just like it says on the home page, we offer a 30-day, money back guarantee. We are so confident that you will be happy with these grips we’re willing to back it up. Give them a shot, try different settings, and put some miles on them. You won’t want to take them off. Actually, take them off, put your old ones back on, and re-install ours. You will really appreciate the advantage they give you. If you don’t feel they are worth the extra cost, send them back in their original package within 30 days of purchase, in “non-damaged” condition, and we will refund the full purchase price of the system (excluding shipping).
HOW MUCH DO THEY WEIGH?
Our grips are very light weight. Every single part has been designed to minimize weight (Pro Series) while maintaining strength and performance.
Small OD Set: 89 grams*
Weight of competitors with the same OD: 100 grams*
Large OD Set: 112 grams*
Weight of competitors with the same OD: 123 grams*
* Weighed without bar ends for a more accurate comparison
WILL THE GRIP MOVEMENT MAKE ME LOSE MORE CONTROL OF MY RIDE?
Precisely the opposite! We have had several riders set new PR's on Strava, and the only change is the grips. Our grips have already won several races (DH and Enduro). Riders were able to maintain more focus because they weren't distracted by hand fatigue and numbing. One could argue that the single most important point of contact is your hands. Front forks move, rear shocks move, seat posts move, and tires deflect. These components all work together to increase control, performance, and overall riding comfort. Add to that a dynamic, Shock Absorbing Grip, and it makes a lot of sense. Remove the washers, and these will just "take the edge off" of the harsh shock and vibration with minimal "movement." Moreover, you do not have to "death grip" your handlebars because they will not transfer all of the shock and vibration to your hands. You will be able to maintain more speed and focus than with a traditional, fixed hand grip.
ARE THE PARTS REPLACEABLE?
Definitely. Every single part is available separate from the kit so you can replace parts as they wear out instead of purchasing a new set. Also, all parts are interchangeable between the Race and Pro Series. The inserts are a wear item and will need to be replaced periodically. Also, we have found through extensive testing that our "Grip Tubes" last longer than conventional grips. The reason is that the grip moves with the rider and does not fight the subtle movements of your hand. This reduces friction between your hand and the grip, therefore increasing its lifespan.
ARE THEY EASY TO INSTALL?
They are just about as easy to install as any other grip on the market. It shouldn't take any more than a couple of minutes to take off your old grips and replace them with this ground-breaking product. There are a total of 6 screws for the entire system that need to be fastened on your bike before you go and ride (2 bar-end screws and 4 clamp screws).
WHERE ARE THEY MADE?
Our products are proudly made in the USA. We own a manufacturing facility (see About Us), and we want to be able to control the quality and production of as many aspects of this product as possible. Clamps and all other metal parts are made in house. Plastics, rubber, boxes, etc. are produced at local factories right here in Southern California.
WHAT ABOUT MOTORCYCLES? QUADS? JET-SKIS?
We have done extensive testing on motorcycles, quads and Jet-Skis with fantastic results. If you have a quad with a thumb throttle, and your handlebar does not have knurls on the left hand side, our Grip System is a direct bolt on. If you do have handlebars with knurls on the left side, you can either sand them down to accept our standard locking rings, or you can gently pry the clamp open when sliding over the knurls. Either way, they will work on a quad with a thumb throttle. We are currently in the beginning stages of production with our motorcycle Grip System, and it will be a direct replacement for motorcycles and quads utilizing twist throttles. Stay tuned.
CAN I TRY THEM OUT BEFORE COMMITTING TO PURCHASE?
Yes, you can. We will be traveling around So-Cal and providing approved bicycle shops with demo grips. Also, follow us on Instagram (@revgrips) and we will announce our demo days so you'll know when and where you can get your hands on some. Additionally, because we offer a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee, you can view it as a 30-Day demo. You just have to pay up front for a brand new set. If you choose to return them (in non-damaged condition) you will receive a full refund (except shipping costs). It's our feeling that once you try them, you won't want to take them off.
